Play the theremin and enjoy a holiday in Andratx in the south-west of Mallorca,
in wonderful natural surroundings.
The Sa Taronja Cultural Association is housed in what was once a chicken farm.
Today it's a charming cultural centre with various spaces for shows, events and workshops.
A small ecological paradise, with a garden full of orange, lemon and pomegranate trees,
surrounded by pine-clad hills not far from the sea. Less than half an hour from Palma,
Sa Taronja is well known for its exceptional and varied programme.
Since 2005 it has been home to the PING! Festival of experimental art and music
which takes place in October, and where the Theremin has already become a fixture.
It's a place that encourages inspiration and creative encounters.
During the proposed workshop, there will be theremin classses
from 12 a.m. to 14 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.,
(to avoid the hottest part of the day) and the rest of the time is yours.
Barbara Buchholz has retrieved the theremin from oblivion
and is finding new uses and applications for it in contemporary music.
Known internationally for her mastery of the instrument,
she is in demand as a performer and teacher.

Workshop C for Advanced Players
August 23rd-28th
“First have music in your soul” (quote by Clara Rockmore)
A seminar for theremin musicians who already have basic knowledge;
ear training, techniques for the left and the right hand, phrasing, articulation,
various concepts of improvisation, jazz-standards, classic scores;
we are happy to include your own choices of musical score - just let us know in advance.
Ensemble-playing, pieces for 3 or 4 Theremins.
On August 27th, students have the opportunity to participate
in the Friday-night "Open Stage" concert,a popular event at the cultural centre.
On Saturday, 28 August Barbara Buchholz will be giving a solo concert.
Those who wish to catch this event may extend their stay to Sunday morning.
Arrival: Sunday, August 22nd. if desired, and if rooms are available,
extra days stay can be booked before the workshop starts (early booking recommended).
Departure: 28th, or at the latest, August 29th.
Workshop A for Beginners
August 30th - September 3rd
“First steps with the theremin”
For musicians without any experience of the theremin.
To play the theremin is like singing with your “inner voice”.
Anyone who loves singing already has the prerequisites.
Arrival: not earlier than Sunday, August 29th.
Departure: September 4th. if desired, and if rooms are available,
extra days stay can be booked for after the workshop (early booking recommended).
Workshop Fee: 400 €
Number of participants: 4
To bring with you: A theremin, a mono jack.
An amplifier and a microphone stand will be supplied on site.

Single room with half-board (breakfast and lunch). Per person, 52€
Shared double room with half-board (breakfast and lunch). Per person, 38€
Dinner available at the centre or in local restaurants, or self-catering.
Pickup at Palma Airport possible:
Group shuttle (predetermined group arrival time) 10€ per person;
individual pickup: 40€ per person
Recommended : rent a car, to be shared by the participants,
in order to get to know the island and go to the beach (less than 15 minutes by car).
We can organise preferential rates if booked well in advance.
